JobHunt for Claude and other AI assistants
JobHunt keeps track of the jobs you saved and the applications you sent: their status, notes, next steps and history. The JobHunt connector lets an AI assistant such as Claude read that list and, if you allow it, keep it up to date for you. It is a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at:
https://jobhunt.bieda.it/mcp
Before you start
- A JobHunt account at jobhunt.bieda.it. While JobHunt is in closed beta, new accounts need an invitation.
- An assistant that can add a remote MCP server, such as Claude (the web and desktop apps, and Claude Code). On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds the connector for the organization first.
Connect
Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it
JobHuntand enter the addresshttps://jobhunt.bieda.it/mcp. - Choose Connect. Claude opens JobHunt, where you sign in.
- JobHunt shows who is asking and where you will be sent back. Leave it at reading only, or tick Allow it to add and change jobs, then choose Allow.
- Back in Claude, turn the connector on in a conversation and ask your first question. Once added, it is also there in Claude's mobile apps.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user jobhunt https://jobhunt.bieda.it/mcp
Start a new session, type /mcp, choose jobhunt and then Authenticate. Your
browser opens the same JobHunt page as above.
Other MCP clients
Use the address above with the Streamable HTTP transport. The server supports OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so a client that follows the MCP authorization specification needs no further setup.
What the assistant may do
You choose one of two levels when you connect, and nothing is granted without your choice on JobHunt's own page:
| Level | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Read only (default) | Read your jobs, notes, tags, next steps and history. |
| Add and change | Also add jobs, change their details and status, add notes and tags. |
At neither level can the assistant delete a job, replace or erase your notes, remove a tag, export your data, or see or change your account, password, settings or other connections. Claude asks you to confirm each change before it is made.
Tools
| Tool | What it does | Level |
|---|---|---|
list_jobs | Lists your jobs and applications, filtered by status, company, tag or words, without their descriptions and notes. | Read |
get_job | Everything about one job: description, your notes, tags, next step and history. | Read |
list_follow_ups | Open applications with no update for a while (14 days unless you changed it), quietest first. | Read |
add_job | Adds a job or an application. | Change |
update_job | Changes details of a job: title, company, link, location, salary, description, next step. | Change |
change_status | Moves a job to another status and records it in the history. | Change |
add_history_note | Records something that happened, without changing the status. | Change |
log_follow_up | Records that you followed up with the company. | Change |
append_notes | Adds text at the end of your notes on a job. | Change |
add_tag | Adds a tag to a job. | Change |
Example prompts
These work with a read-only connection:
- Which of my applications should I follow up on? Draft a short message for each company.
- What is coming up in my job search in the next seven days?
- Summarise my application to Globex and help me prepare for the technical interview.
- How is my job search going? Give me the numbers for each stage and tell me what stands out.
These need a connection that may add and change:
- Contoso Cloud invited me to a technical interview next Tuesday at 10:00. Update the application.
- Save this job: Senior Platform Engineer at Acme, remote, 28 000 PLN net B2B, https://example.com/jobs/123. Tag it kubernetes.
- I sent follow-up e-mails to Northwind Systems and Contoso Cloud today. Record that.
Disconnect
In JobHunt open Account → AI assistant. Every connected assistant is listed there with what it may do and when it was last used; Disconnect ends its access at once. Removing the connector in Claude alone does not tell JobHunt, so disconnect it in JobHunt as well. A connection that is not used for 60 days ends by itself, and every connection has to be approved again after 180 days.
Privacy and security
- The assistant receives only what a tool returns for your question: your own jobs, notes and history. It never receives your password, and it cannot reach another person's data.
- JobHunt does not receive your conversation. It sees the tool calls the assistant makes (for example "list jobs with the tag kubernetes") and keeps no record of them beyond the time the connection was last used, and the changes you asked for.
- What the assistant does with the data it reads is covered by the terms and privacy policy of its provider (for Claude, Anthropic).
- Job descriptions come from third-party websites, and a posting could contain text meant to mislead an assistant. This is why a connection reads only by default, why nothing can be deleted through it, and why Claude asks before each change.
See the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Claude says it cannot add or change anything | The connection is read only. Disconnect it under Account → AI assistant, connect again and tick Allow it to add and change jobs. |
| "Needs authentication", or the connector asks you to connect again | The connection ended (disconnected in JobHunt, unused for 60 days, or older than 180 days). Choose Connect again; in Claude Code use /mcp → jobhunt → Authenticate. |
| "The user has to accept the updated terms of service" | Open JobHunt in your browser, accept the new terms and ask again. |
| JobHunt shows "This request cannot be used" instead of the Allow button | The link is incomplete or was changed on the way. Close the tab and start connecting again from the assistant. |
| JobHunt warns that the request comes from a program on your computer | Expected for Claude Code and other desktop or command-line apps. Allow it only if you started connecting one a moment ago. |
| You cannot sign in or create an account | During the closed beta an account needs an invitation. Ask for one through the contact below. |
| "A job with this URL is already on the list" | The job was saved before. Ask the assistant to find it and update it instead. |
| "Too many changes – try again later", or a message about a limit of the account | JobHunt limits how fast jobs can be added and how much an account holds. Wait a minute, or delete old jobs in the app. |
Claude Code does not list jobhunt under /mcp | The server was added for one folder only. Add it again with --scope user as shown above and start a new session. |
| JobHunt says that too many assistants are connected | Disconnect one you no longer use under Account → AI assistant. |
